One year ago today we said goodbye to Bob. I miss him dearly every day. He is my inspiration to be a better person and is the role model that I live by. Rest in peace Robert C. We all love you… We all know this is what he’d be saying right now

Thank You

It is with great sadness that I’m updating this blog today. Robert C.Metcalf passed away peacefully at Hoag Hospital. He was surrounded by many loved ones. It was one of my greatest honors to know him and to share our deep bond of love and friendship. We will update this site with plans for his celebration of life as soon as we can. Love and appreciate one another in his memory.

They are gonna take Bob off life support and put him on comfort care today, allowing him to pass with comfort. If you want to say your goodbyes now would be the time. This is a very sad day indeed.

Bob failed his breathing test this morning. The doctor will keep him on oxygen support today. His heart rate is up as well. Please refrain from visiting today so he can rest.

Another solid day for Bobs vitals. He is off his blood pressure and heart meds. His surgeon feels he is ready to come off of the oxygen machine tomorrow. They will start by weaning him off all sedation and then extubate at some point after that. This is good news but it’s also an extremely important moment for him. This is the next step in his battle and it is crucial that he succeeds so please refrain from visiting him on Tuesday. He can do this!

He is off the heavy sedative, blood pressure and heart meds. His vitals are solid and he’s calm and resting.

No talk of extubating today. He is making small positive steps towards recovery but he is still in icu so please keep that in mind.

Today was a good day. Bob did very well on his breathing test. His vitals stayed solid for the entire day while he was put on various levels of respiratory assistance. The doc wants to give him another day to show strength before considering removing the assistance all together. He has to be able to remain stable without the respirator before he will be allowed to leave the icu. This is critical. He was awake and trying his best to communicate today. We need to provide support and encouragement but please remember that he is not out of the woods by any means and needs to take it slow. His fight is not over yet!

Today was a good day. Bob did well with his breathing test. His heart, breathing and blood pressure all stayed stable while off his oxygen. He was awake today but not communicating a lot. They will do the test again tomorrow to see if he’s improving and getting stronger. He is fighting for his life so please send him as much love as you can!
